Birchy's Books: Website Redesign
Birchy’s Books is a growing collection of quirky children’s books and keepsakes focused on helping parents build connection with their children. Based in Townsville, Birchy’s Books is now available in stores all across Australia.
Scope of Works
Project Brief
Courtney, the heart and creative mind behind Birchy’s Books, originally built her WordPress website herself; version “201.0” as she jokingly called it. While the passion and content were there, the backend had become cluttered with inconsistent colours, mixed fonts and no clear visual hierarchy.
With a brand-new logo in hand, Courtney was ready for a proper “reno.” Her goals were clear:
Create a seamless, consistent brand identity across the entire site
Establish a vibrant, playful design that reflected her personality and children’s books
Build a dedicated blog space for The Indie Author Diaries
Integrate eCommerce functionality to sell her books directly to customers in Townsville with local pickup, or posted Australia-wide
Provide clear pathways for customers to find stockists
Improve technical structure while still allowing her to confidently edit content herself
Importantly, Courtney didn’t just want a prettier site, she wanted a clearer vision. She knew that if her platform looked and felt cohesive, she’d feel more confident showing up, publishing blog posts, and growing her readership.
The Solution
With her refreshed logo as the anchor point, I designed a vibrant, fun, slightly quirky website that used bright pops of colour in a controlled and consistent way.
Key features delivered:
Custom Website Redesign – Clean layout, structured hierarchy and consistent branding across every page
Dedicated Blog Section – Built specifically to support The Indie Author Diaries, positioning Courtney for long-term audience growth
Integrated eCommerce – Seamless online store functionality for direct book sales
Stockist Map Integration – Clear pathway for readers wanting to purchase locally
CusRev Integration – Automated customer review collection to build trust and social proof
Backend Clean-Up – Simplified site settings, fonts, colours and blog templates for easier long-term management
The result is a site that feels joyful, polished and unmistakably “Birchy’s Books” — but now with the technical structure and scalability to support Courtney’s next chapter as an indie author and blogger.
